The scenes come from Africa, America … or from closer to home, like the famous Nativity scenes for which Provence in Southern France has been famous for the past two hundred years. They show a variety of settings (a barn, a byre, an entire village, a mill) and, of course, they’re peopled with figurines known as “santons” (“small saints”), among them a chimneysweep, a miller, a hurdy-gurdy player, a gypsy …
Every two years (uneven) the village of Muzeray has an outdoor native scene festival with Christmas.
The museum changes its displays every year.
