The scenes come from Africa, America ... or from closer to home, like the famous Nativity scenes for which Provence in Southern France has been famous for the past two hundred years. They show a variety of settings (a barn, a byre, an entire village, a mill) and, of course, they're peopled with figurines known as "santons" ("small saints"), among them a chimneysweep, a miller, a hurdy-gurdy player, a gypsy ...
Every two years (uneven) the village of Muzeray has an outdoor native scene festival with Christmas.
